What is Mommy Matters?
For pregnant women who are interested in meeting other women at a similar stage in life, the Mommy Matters groups provide an opportunity to meet other pregnant women while participating in activities such as art, indoor gardening, mindful meditation, and gentle stretching.
We are currently exploring these groups for their potential wellness benefits during the maternal transition.
How much does it cost to participate?
The groups are free.
Who can participate?
To participate, you must be a pregnant woman who is at least 18 years old and who is not currently experiencing serious health difficulties.
What do the Mommy Matters programs consist of?
Participants in the Mommy Matters group programs will meet once a week for four weeks. Each meeting will consist of a different activity and participants will have an opportunity to engage in the activity and discussion.
What do I have to do?
As a participant in the program we will ask that you complete some questionnaires to help us assess the program. The questionnaires are confidential and anonymous. They will ask questions about your mood, relationships, and health.
Where are the groups held?
The groups are held either at Insight on Memorial (594 Memorial Avenue) or at Lakehead University. The specific location details will be available closer to the session start date.
Who can I contact for more information?
If you would like to participate or are interested in obtaining more information, you are welcome to contact Carley at: MommyMatters@lakeheadu.ca
To show our appreciation, all participants will have the option to receive a $10 Tim Horton’s gift card when they complete the study.
